Curly Hair Q&A: Answering All CGM Questions

Q: I’ve tried using the diffuser on my hair and it doesn’t turn out the way I see other women using this, how come?

A: Using a diffuser can be tricky if you aren’t using the correct products. It all starts with the products you are using. Some create frizz rather than diminish them. Because I don’t know what products you are using, if you are using the correct products it could be the way you are diffusing. Make sure to diffuse on warm and on low.

Q: How many products should you use for curly hair?

A: It depends on you and your curls. I tend to use a leave-in, curl defining cream, sometimes a gel spray and after diffusing serum for frizz. Of course, water is your main product to spritz and keep your hair damp. A total of 3!

Q: Would you recommend using gel casts?

A: I personally do not like using gel. If I do it’s only to spray lightly, but I do not like the way my hair carries gel casts. That is just for my curl type. You should be open to trying new products. Scrunch the crunch out!

Q: My hair is dry and brittle, what kind of hair mask should I use?

A: You should start by using any hair mask that is CGM friendly and clean. Starting with that any hair mask that says it’s for hydration or brittleness. You could consider Coco & Eve, SheaMoisture, Not Your Mother’s, Bumble & Bumble are all good ones to start with.

Q: Are there any specific oils that you have to put in your hair and if there are what kind?

A: Oils can be tricky to use on curls. You don’t want to over-power oil and make your hair greasy. Oils and serums should be used to maintain frizz. Applying at the root and this time only use as directed. Again starting with clean products and CGM friendly brands such as, Ouai, DevaCurl, Flora & Curl just to name a few.

Q: Is Aloe Vera good for curly hair?

A: I have not tried using Aloe Vera on my curly hair, but I know that it can act as a good hold on curls! Imagine that?! Natural ingredients will surprise you.

Q: Is there any food that helps grow out curly hair?

A: I am not aware of any specific food that does help with hair, as I am not a specialist. Although, eating healthy can play a big role on curls. Drink your water it can benefit you and your hair! “You are what you eat,” ever heard that saying? Intake all your nutrients and not only will your hair love you for it but so will your body.

Q: How often do you use hair masks?

A: Typically, on any hair mask they say to use it anywhere from 2-3 times a week. I use hair masks twice a week, one at the beginning of the week to kick my hair into action and at the end of the week. Usually I use hair mask on wash days or when my hair could use a little bit of a boost.

Thank you for all these amazing questions! I look forward to doing more of these Q&A's! Stay tuned for the next one.
